Why I'm Not Afraid of the End Times (And You Shouldn't Be Either)
4 min read · By Christbearing Warrior
I write about the end of the world. I study plagues, judgments, persecution, nuclear destruction, and the rise of the most evil leader in human history.
And I'm not afraid.
People find that confusing. "How can you think about this stuff all day and not be terrified?" They assume I'm either in denial or just wired differently.
Neither. I'm at peace because I know how the story ends.
The Ending Is Already Written
Here's what most people miss about Revelation: it's not a horror story. It's a victory story.
Yes, the Tribulation is devastating. Yes, the judgments are severe. Yes, the suffering is real. But Revelation doesn't end with the Beast winning. It ends with this:
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." — Revelation 21:4
The Beast loses. Satan is bound and then destroyed. Death itself is thrown into the lake of fire. And God creates a new heaven and a new earth where suffering doesn't exist — not because it's hidden, but because it's gone. Permanently.
If you know the ending, the middle doesn't scare you the same way.
Fear vs. Urgency
There's a difference between fear and urgency, and I think it's important to name it.
Fear paralyzes. It makes you want to hide, avoid, pretend the problem isn't there. Fear says: "Don't think about it."
Urgency mobilizes. It makes you want to act, prepare, warn others. Urgency says: "Think about it now, while you still can."
I feel urgency. Deep, constant urgency. The kind that wakes me up at night with a passage of scripture I need to study. The kind that makes me look at people I love and wonder if they're ready. The kind that drove me to write 500+ pages because the message couldn't wait.
But I don't feel fear. Not for myself. Because I know where I'm going.
The Source of Peace
My peace doesn't come from pretending the Tribulation won't happen. It doesn't come from hoping I've got the timeline wrong. It doesn't come from ignoring scripture or softening it into something less confrontational.
My peace comes from Christ. Period.
He told us these things would happen — not to scare us, but to prepare us. "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." — John 16:33
He has overcome the world. Past tense. It's done. The victory was won on the cross and confirmed at the empty tomb. Everything that happens between now and the New Creation is the outworking of a victory that's already been secured.
That's not optimism. That's theology. And it holds.
For You
If you're reading this and you're scared — of the end times, of the world falling apart, of your own mortality, of the unknown — I want to tell you something.
Fear is not from God.
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." — 2 Timothy 1:7
The spirit of fear comes from the enemy. It's designed to keep you paralyzed, unfocused, and too anxious to act. The spirit of power, love, and a sound mind comes from God. It's designed to make you effective, compassionate, and clear-headed — even in the worst circumstances.
You get to choose which spirit you listen to.
Choose power. Choose love. Choose a sound mind. Choose Christ. And let the fear go, because the ending is already written, and we win.
